Mukesh Ambani's Vedic Chart: An Exalted Sun, and a Rare Stable Reading

An exalted Sun, and nothing moves

Two things stand out. The first is the Sun at about 5.8 degrees of Aries, its sign of exaltation, in the nakshatra Ashwini. Exalted Sun is the planet at full strength, and the Sun signifies authority, command and the self. Venus sits alongside it at 7 degrees of the same sign and nakshatra.

The second is rarer and more useful. I re-ran this chart at both ends of the birth date, and not one placement changes: not a sign, not a nakshatra, not for any of the nine grahas. That almost never happens, because the Moon usually shifts nakshatra within a day and often crosses a sign. Here it does not.

What that means practically is that everything in the table below is a fact about the date rather than a guess about the time. For a chart with no recorded birth time, that is as solid as it gets.

The rest of the placements

His Moon is in Sagittarius at about 6.7 degrees, in Mula. Mula is the root star, ruled by Ketu, and it sits at the galactic centre region of the sky. The tradition associates it with going to the bottom of things and with sharp beginnings and endings.

Jupiter is at 29.9 degrees of Leo and retrograde, which is to say right at the very end of the sign, a whisker from Virgo. That is the one placement here I would treat with care despite the stability, because a planet at 29.9 degrees is as close to a boundary as it is possible to be, and a different ayanamsha would move it.

Saturn is in Scorpio in Jyeshtha and retrograde. Mars is at 27 degrees of Taurus, and Mercury at 24.5 degrees of Aries in Bharani. The nodes run Rahu in Libra, Ketu in Aries.

One detail worth noting for anyone recomputing this: he was born in Aden, which used UTC+3, not Indian time. Cast the same date against Indian coordinates and offsets and you will get a different chart.

What is still unknowable

No birth time appears in any primary record I could find, and Wikipedia gives date and place only. So the ascendant, the twelve houses, every house-based yoga, the divisional charts and the Vimshottari dasha dates are all unavailable.

The dasha point is worth spelling out. The timeline is set by how far the Moon had travelled through Mula at birth, and across a day that distance changes enough to shift the sequence by several months. The nakshatra itself is certain here, which is better than most celebrity charts manage, but the dates built on it are not.

Anything you read that gives his lagna, his 10th house, or a dated dasha has chosen a birth time without telling you.
