What is KundliAI?

KundliAI is a free AI-powered Vedic astrology app. It generates an accurate sidereal (Lahiri ayanamsha) birth chart from your date, time, and place of birth, then uses conversational AI to explain what the chart means in plain language: your planetary periods (mahadasha and antardasha), transits such as Sade Sati, kundli matching (gun milan), and the meaning of each planet and house. Unlike a traditional calculator that only displays chart data, KundliAI explains the chart while keeping to classical Vedic astrology principles, and you can ask follow-up questions about your own placements.

It runs in any web browser at kundliai.app with no install and no signup, and answers in six languages (English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Urdu, and Hinglish). It suits people generating their first birth chart, people learning Jyotish, astrology enthusiasts, and couples checking compatibility. The AI helps interpret your chart in easy-to-understand language. It does not replace professional astrological advice, and astrology is best treated as reflective guidance rather than a basis for high-stakes decisions.

Frequently asked questions

What is KundliAI?+

KundliAI is a free AI-powered Vedic astrology app. It generates an accurate sidereal (Lahiri) birth chart from your date, time, and place of birth, then uses conversational AI to explain your chart in plain language: your planetary periods (mahadasha and antardasha), transits like Sade Sati, kundli matching (gun milan), and what each planet and house means. It runs in your browser with no signup and answers in six languages.

Is KundliAI an app or a website?+

Both, in effect. KundliAI runs in any web browser at kundliai.app with nothing to install, and it can also be added to your phone's home screen as a progressive web app (PWA). There is no separate download needed to generate your chart or ask the AI.

How is KundliAI different from AstroSage or KundliGPT?+

KundliAI combines Vedic birth-chart calculations with conversational AI explanations. Traditional astrology platforms such as AstroSage offer a broad range of calculators, reports, and astrology services. AI-based tools such as KundliGPT focus more heavily on conversational interpretation. KundliAI is designed to let users generate a chart, understand key Jyotish concepts, and ask follow-up questions in one experience.

Does KundliAI use Vedic (sidereal) astrology?+

Yes. KundliAI uses the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsha, the Government of India standard, not the Western tropical zodiac. This is genuine Vedic (Jyotish) calculation, which is why your Vedic sun sign is often one sign earlier than your Western one.

Can KundliAI explain my birth chart, not just generate it?+

Yes, that is the point of it. Most kundli tools render the chart and leave the meaning to you. KundliAI computes the chart and then a conversational AI explains what your specific placements, houses, and current dasha mean, and you can ask follow-up questions about any of it.

Does KundliAI calculate mahadasha and antardasha?+

Yes. Every chart shows your current Vimshottari mahadasha and its antardasha sub-period, with an AI reading of what that planetary period activates for you. You can also look up the dasha that was active on any past date using the Moments feature.

Is KundliAI suitable for beginners?+

Yes. It is built for people generating their first kundli as much as for enthusiasts. The AI explains every term in plain language, so you do not need to already know how to read a chart. It works for a first-timer, someone learning Jyotish, and couples checking compatibility alike.

What is a kundli?+

A kundli, also called janam kundali or Vedic birth chart, is a map of where the nine planets sat across twelve houses at the exact moment you were born. Each house governs a life area: career, marriage, health, wealth, family. The chart is calculated from your date, time, and place of birth.

Can my kundli predict my career or profession?+

Yes, your kundli has several career signals. The 10th house and its lord show your profession; the 2nd, 6th, and 11th houses show income and earnings; and your current mahadasha (planetary period) shapes the timing of career shifts. The atmakaraka (soul planet) and the dharma trikona (1st, 5th, and 9th houses) point to the kind of work you'll find meaningful. KundliAI reads all of these together rather than picking a single factor.

What does the 10th house mean in Vedic astrology?+

The 10th house in your kundli is your career, profession, public status, and the work the world recognises you for. The sign on its cusp, the planets inside it, and the placement of the 10th-house lord all shape what career suits you. Strong planets in the 10th, especially Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, or Saturn when well-placed, indicate authority, recognition, and long-term professional growth. The 10th is read alongside the 6th house (service and daily work) and 2nd house (earnings).

Which dasha is best for career success or starting a business?+

The best dasha for career depends on your chart, not a universal rule. In Vedic astrology, Jupiter and Mercury mahadashas often support business: Jupiter for wisdom-led ventures and partnerships, Mercury for trade, communication, and analytical work. Sun mahadasha favours leadership and government roles; Saturn rewards disciplined long-term effort. The deciding factor is whether the ruling planet is well-placed in your own kundli, a weak Mercury mahadasha is less favourable than a strong Saturn one, even though Mercury is the classical business planet.

How do I know if I'm in a good Mercury dasha?+

Mercury mahadasha lasts 17 years and is generally favourable for communication, intellect, writing, trade, and analytical work. Whether it's a good Mercury dasha for you specifically depends on where Mercury sits in your birth chart, its house, sign, conjunctions, and aspects. Mercury in the 9th, 10th, or 1st house with good dignity usually means a strong dasha for career and learning. A weakened or afflicted Mercury can still bring activity, but with more friction. KundliAI shows your current dasha and reads the planet's chart strength together.

Is KundliAI really free?+

Yes, the core is genuinely free. Your full birth chart, your AI reading, a personalised PDF kundli by email, and a set of questions every day all cost nothing, with no signup to start. Two things are paid, both one-time and never a subscription: extra questions after you have used the day's free set, and the deep personalised readings, your remedy plan (the gemstone, mantra, and timing to act on what your chart shows), your year-ahead timing report, and detailed compatibility.

Can I ask in my own language?+

Yes. You can ask the AI Jyotish about your chart in Hindi, Arabic, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Hinglish, or English, and it answers in the same language, read from your real birth chart. This makes KundliAI usable for non-English speakers seeking a Vedic reading, including Arabic-speaking users.

Do I need to know my exact birth time?+

Birth time is optional but recommended. Without it, KundliAI uses 12:00 noon as the default, which gives accurate sun sign, moon sign, and planetary positions, but your ascendant and house placements may be off. With exact time, the reading is far more precise.

What is a mahadasha?+

A mahadasha is a major planetary period in Vedic astrology, lasting 6 to 20 years depending on the planet. You are always in one, and the planet ruling your current mahadasha strongly shapes events in your life during that period. KundliAI shows your current mahadasha on every chart.

Can KundliAI explain why something happened on a specific date?+

Yes. With the Moments feature, you can enter any past date and KundliAI shows the mahadasha and major transits active at that time, with a short plain-English reading of what the chart was doing on that day.

Is Vedic astrology different from my horoscope sign?+

They are two different systems. Standard horoscopes use Western (tropical) astrology, while Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which sits about 24 degrees apart. That is why your Vedic sun sign is often one sign earlier than your Western one, so a Western Leo is usually a Vedic Cancer. KundliAI gives you both, a full Vedic kundli and a separate Western tropical reading, so you can compare them yourself.

What numerology system does KundliAI use?+

KundliAI uses the Chaldean numerology system, which is the traditional Indian approach (not Pythagorean). Your Mulank, Bhagyank, and name number are read against your actual planetary positions in your kundli, so the interpretation is specific to your chart rather than a generic meaning.

Can I get a printable PDF kundli?+

Yes. Enter your email and KundliAI sends a personalised PDF with planetary positions, yogas, dasha analysis, and a written reading, at no cost.

How does KundliAI calculate my chart?+

KundliAI computes planetary positions from astronomical ephemeris data using the Lahiri ayanamsha (the Government of India standard for sidereal calculations). Positions are calculated to the degree, not pulled from lookup tables. The AI then interprets those positions using classical Vedic astrology principles.

What is gun milan in kundli matching?+

Gun milan is the traditional Vedic compatibility check for marriage, comparing two birth charts on 8 attributes (kootas) for a maximum score of 36. Scores above 18 are considered acceptable, above 24 good, above 30 excellent. The 8 kootas check mental compatibility, family ties, intimacy, temperament, health, longevity, social bonding, and progeny. KundliAI does this automatically with colour-coded results.

What is panchang?+

Panchang is the Vedic calendar that lists five daily attributes: tithi (lunar day), nakshatra (lunar mansion), yoga, karana, and var (weekday). It also includes auspicious times (muhurat) and inauspicious times like Rahu Kaal. Panchang is used to pick the right moment for important activities, weddings, business launches, travel, and rituals.

What is sade sati?+

Sade sati is the 7.5-year period when transit Saturn passes through your moon sign and the signs immediately before and after it in your natal chart. It's traditionally considered a challenging period that tests resilience, but it's also a major growth phase. Roughly one-third of your life will be in some phase of sade sati given Saturn's 29.5-year orbit.

How accurate is AI-generated Vedic astrology?+

The astronomical calculations are exact (using the Lahiri ayanamsha and modern ephemerides). The AI's role is interpretation: turning planetary positions into plain-English readings of personality, timing, and life themes. AI is good at translating Vedic concepts into accessible language but does not replace decades of human astrologer experience for highly nuanced predictions or edge cases.
