Kaal Sarp Dosh
Also known as: Kala Sarpa Dosha, Kal Sarp Yoga
Kaal Sarp Dosh is a chart configuration in which all seven traditional planets sit on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis, traditionally read as a karmic obstacle pattern.
There are 12 named varieties of Kaal Sarp Dosh depending on which house Rahu and Ketu occupy (Anant, Kulik, Vasuki, Shankhpal, Padma, Mahapadma, Takshak, Karkotak, Shankhachud, Ghatak, Vishakta, Sheshnag). Classical texts describe it as a delay-and-friction pattern — career, marriage and finances are said to require more effort and to mature later than usual. Modern astrology treats Kaal Sarp Dosh more cautiously: many charts technically qualify, the dosha is partial if even one planet sits outside the axis, and the 'curse' framing is largely a 20th-century overlay rather than a classical Vedic concept. It should be read alongside the rest of the chart, not in isolation.
